danceTactics is seeking thoughtful, collaborative, and engaged individuals to join our Board of Directors.
We're not simply looking to fill board seats. We're looking for people who want to help shape what's next —people who bring ideas, expertise, relationships, curiosity, and a genuine belief in the power of contemporary art, community, cultural exchange, and possibility.
You don't have to be a dancer. You don't need previous board experience. We welcome individuals who are serving on a nonprofit board for the first time and are excited to learn, contribute, and grow as organizational leaders.

danceTactics is a contemporary cultural organization and performance company founded by Artistic Director Keith A. Thompson. Through contemporary dance, physical theater, interdisciplinary collaboration, performance, education, and community engagement, danceTactics creates work that explores connection, belonging, identity, memory, and shared humanity.
Rooted in Arizona and connected to national and international artistic communities, danceTactics is entering an exciting period of growth and expansion.

Board members contribute through governance and strategic thinking while also helping build relationships, identify opportunities, cultivate resources, strengthen visibility, and connect danceTactics with communities and partners.

Board Give/Get Commitment
Transparency is important to us.
Board members are asked to make an annual $600 give/get commitment to support danceTactics' sustainability and fundraising efforts. This may be fulfilled through a combination of personal giving and/or funds raised through the board member's network and fundraising efforts.
The purpose is not simply the dollar amount. It is about each board member actively participating in the organization's financial sustainability and helping cultivate the resources needed to support the work.

Commitment
Board members should be prepared to participate actively in board meetings, committee or project work, organizational conversations, fundraising and relationship-building efforts, and activities that support the visibility and sustainability of danceTactics.
We recognize that board service looks different for each person. We are interested in learning how your skills, experience, relationships, and interests can contribute to the organization.
Application & Selection Process
We are currently accepting applications and actively reviewing candidates.
The process includes:
Candidates submit an application sharing their experience, interests, skills, relationships, and potential contribution to danceTactics.
Selected candidates will be invited to participate in a conversation with members of the Board Recruitment Committee.
Candidates who move forward will have the opportunity to learn more about the organization, meet board members, ask questions, and explore mutual fit.
Interviews will continue through September 30, 2026.
