The setting of the book is in the first decade of the 21st century at the site of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. It involves three protagonists, all scientists. From different walks of life. The engage in a adventure to save the world from the science that they are ultimately purveyors of and promote it in the same whim. The battle the forces of doom and save lives in the process. They aren’t, however,able to save everyone. They themselves are vulnerable to the same forces of destruction as anyone else is. Primarily black holes, asteroids, global warfare, pandemics, and the virtual genomic grid.
There is a romance between two of these protagonists and they have a child . With the exception of some collateral damage, humanity remains virtually intact. This book reminds us of all of our vulnerabilities, and our present mortalities. Why would scientists risk their lives and the lives of the planet when life is more precious than scientific discoveries, even if those discoveries yield some of the most profound discoveries of the 21st century and beyond (ranking up there with relativity, evolution, radioactive decay,
and the Big Bang (theory).
The adventure is full of twists and turns and intensifies toward the end of the story. It is enthralling and mermerizing and deserves the reader’s full focus and attention. Never a dull moment when it comes to rubix apocalypse. It will keep you guessing unti the very end. What awaits us in the future may not be known, but it will soon be revealed. The message is to be prepared for the worst case scenario, but to be joyful for every new day that brings hope and joy.
